To support research and scholarship in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, the office of the dean is seeking applications for grants that increase the likelihood of peer-reviewed dissemination. Preference will be given to applicants with projects in the scholarship of application and the scholarship of teaching and learning for whom external funds are not readily available.

There will be two deadlines per year. Applications received by October 15 will be considered for projects between November 1 and September 1 of the following year. Applications received by January 30 will be considered for projects between February 15 and January 1 of the following year. Grant recipients must provide a final report of the outcomes of the project to the office of the dean 30 days after the grant period ends.

Apply

  • Faculty and staff members at 0.5 FTE and above
  • Rank of instructor, assistant or associate professor with an appointment in an SHRS department (faculty only)
  • Demonstrated support of academic unit leader
  • Has not received a grant from SHRS in the past year

A committee of the dean and assistant deans will review applications and rate them based on:

  • Clarity of the proposed project
  • Relevance of the project to health and rehabilitation sciences
  • Feasibility of completion within a year
  • Likelihood of peer-reviewed dissemination
  • Alignment with definition of scholarship of application or scholarship of teaching and learning
  • Up to five awards may be given per academic year
  • Individual awards not to exceed $3,000
  • Funds will be distributed as reimbursement for expenses
  • Expenses may include methodological training, software, incentives to participants, and payment to research assistants, statisticians, transcribers, or mentors
  • Any unspent funds by the end of the grant period will return to the office of the dean
