Alternative Transport Methods

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's (MBTA) Subway (also known as “The T”) has four main lines (Green, Blue, Orange, and Red) and connects downtown Boston to communities within and near the city. The MBTA also offers the Commuter Rail which connects communities across eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island to downtown Boston.

To get to campus, take the Commuter Rail, Green Line, or Orange Line to North Station. From North Station, take the Mass General Brigham (MGB) shuttle, a Bluebike, or walk to campus. Individuals can also take the Red Line to the Charles/MGH stop, where you can catch the MGB shuttle to the Charlestown Navy Yard.

For information on schedules, fares, and accessibility, visit the MBTA’s website. New to riding the MBTA? Visit the MBTA’s Beginner’s Guide to the Commuter Rail and the Beginner’s Guide to the Subway. Trip Planner is a useful tool to help plan your commute. Download MBTA Go to track real-time schedules. Additionally, the MBTA offers several bike parking options that allow riders to park their bike for free and continue their commute on the MBTA.

Discounted MBTA passes are available to employees and students.

The MBTA’s income-eligible reduced fare program offers reduced fares to riders between the ages of 18 – 64 who are enrolled in an approved state assistance program.
