The MGH Institute of Health Professions Department of Physical Therapy provides students unmatched opportunity to play an increasingly vital role in helping patients restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and limit permanent physical disabilities resulting from injury or disease.

Our faculty are leaders, innovators, clinicians, and scholars. We strive to prepare our students to be part of patient/client-centered, interprofessional practice in a dynamic and diverse healthcare environment. Prepare for leadership in education, clinical practice, scholarship, professional service, and community engagement. Join us and begin your journey to become tomorrow’s physical therapist.

Physical Therapy Program & Residencies

Our Physical Therapy programs offer educational opportunities for those who wish to begin their preparation for physical therapy practice in our Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, as well as for those who already are physical therapists seeking to advance their knowledge and clinical skills in our Clinical Residency in Orthopedics or Sports PT.

Continuing Education

Our Department of Physical Therapy is an approved provider of continuing education (CEUs) by the APTA of Massachusetts. Physical therapists who complete these courses can apply the earned CEUs toward their biennial license renewal. We offer a range of educational opportunities, including the Elevating Practice course series, which emphasizes best practices in the outpatient setting, as well as a Dry Needling Certification program that qualifies providers to practice dry needling in Massachusetts.
