This comprehensive course meets one of the core requirements of the certification exam given by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Learn about assessment & diagnosis, care planning, implementation, and evaluation through interactive modules with video content, enrichment resources, critical thinking exercises and knowledge checks.

The ANCC Psychiatric–Mental Health Nursing board certification examination is a competency based examination that provides a valid and reliable assessment of the entry-level clinical knowledge and skills of registered nurses in the psychiatric–mental health specialty after initial RN licensure. Once you complete eligibility requirements to take the certification examination and successfully pass the exam, you are awarded the credential: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse – Board Certified (PMH-BC™). This credential is valid for 5 years.

Target Audience:

  • Psychiatric nurses who want to be board certified in psychiatric nursing.
  • New nurses in the psychiatric-mental health specialty who what to enhance their knowledge in preparation to take the examination, after meeting required clinical practice hours. 

This course provides 30 contact hours of psychiatric-mental health nursing content and meets the continuing education eligibility requirement.
