New school name coming this fall

Beginning September 1, the name of our school will change from MGH Institute of Health Professions to Mass General Brigham University of Health Professions. Learn more.

This information only applies to students who are currently enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan. If you waived this plan or have external health insurance coverage, this does not affect your current coverage.

Loss of Current Coverage

Tentative Graduates (Students who will complete all degree/certificate requirements by the end of their final semester): Your coverage on the Institute’s plan will end on the final day of the month preceding your graduation. After that date, you will no longer be covered under the Institute’s plan.

To prepare for this transition, please review the information below to help you plan for post-graduation health insurance.

Options for Post-Graduation Coverage

  • If you need to obtain insurance coverage after your Institute plan expires, the following resources provide excellent guidance for recent graduates:
  • Through the Health Connector, you can find:
    • Comprehensive Health Plans: Coverage for prescription drugs, doctor visits, and hospital stays.
    • Dental Insurance: Standalone or integrated dental plans.
    • Financial Assistance: Opportunities to lower your costs through tax credits and low-or no-cost ConnectorCare plans.

Important Note

Please be aware that the Institute does not offer a COBRA option through our plan, as this is a student health insurance plan and not an employer-sponsored plan. You must secure alternative coverage independently.
