MGH Institute academic programs and departments fund Graduate Assistantships. These work opportunities allow students to earn a small stipend to offset some of their educational costs.

Graduate Assistantships are limited and not guaranteed as they become available as needed.  These opportunities are managed through the Human Resources Department

Area: Interprofessional Education and Practice
Position Title: Graduate Assistant (4 positions available)
Start Date: ASAP

Graduate Assistant Rate of Pay: $13.50/hour 

Duties:
IPE Graduate Assistants are valuable members of the IPE staff that support the everyday operations of the department. The ideal GA is detail oriented, creative, and flexible. Some of the day to day duties may include:

  • Creating social media flyers using CANVA.
  • Supporting faculty with D2L resources.
  • Greeting visitors in the Provost Suite.
  • Providing general administrative office support as needed.
  • Supporting outreach and events by producing social media content, creating flyers, taking photos and helping with set up and clean up.

Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills; and be knowledgeable in MS office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and comfortable learning and navigating online systems.

Department: Nursing/ Ruth Sleeper Nursing Center for Clinical Education and Wellness
Position Title: Graduate Assistant (remote)
Start Date: December 2021, 6-8 hours per week
End Date: Ongoing

Graduate Assistant Rate of Pay: $13.50/hour 

Duties: Assist in the Impact Practice Center, Nursing Center for Clinical Education and Wellness with general duties  

  • Communicate with clients, faculty, and students of the Sleeper Nursing Center for Clinical Education and Wellness.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments.
  • Collect and maintain Sleeper Center utilization data.
  • Prepare forms for client visits and manage documentation.
  • Travel to off-site locations as needed.
  • Maintain lab equipment and supplies. 

Applicants can be from any IHP study program. Customer service experience preferred. The students will be given instructions for required tasks and training if need be. The students will work mostly on their own, but under the supervision of the Center Director, Kathryn Sabo.

Position Title: Teaching Assistant

Graduate Assistant Rate of Pay: $15.00/hour 

Duties: Teaching assistant for Nursing Care of Childbearing Families. Responsibilities include student support, running review sessions, help with writing practice questions.

The job will consist of sending and/or writing press releases, organizing email lists, and other sundry tasks. Experience in professional non-academic writing is preferred but not required. Flexible virtual hours can include working at night and/or weekends. May include working on campus at times.

Department: PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences Program 
Position Title: Graduate Assistant (one position available)
Hours Per Week:

Graduate Assistant Rate of Pay: $13.50/hour 
 
Duties: 
The PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences Program Graduate Assistant will assist the Program Coordinator and Interim Director with administrative and organizing tasks such as: 
•         Sending weekly Seminar communications to students and guest presenters. 
•         Posting materials and announcements on D2L 
•         Sending academic calendar and event reminders to students 
•         Helping to file and organize shared drive materials 
•         Setting up Zoom meetings 
•         Assisting instructors with course tech or organizing requests as needed 
•         Other tasks as assigned 
 
Remote Work Requirements: This position is currently remote. Use of personal computer and internet access will be required to successfully perform job duties.

Department: Physical Therapy
Position Title: Graduate Assistant (1 position available)
Start Date: January 18, 2022 - August 18, 2023

Hours per week: 4-8 hours a week, but the students may be asked to work more if assistance is needed. 

Graduate Assistant Rate of Pay: $13.50/hour 

The position is for a Graduate Assistant in the Graduate Program in Physical Therapy to assist with the general maintenance of the physical therapy labs. 

Responsibilities include:   

  • Putting away lab equipment and supplies
  • Cleaning mats, tables, and equipment 
  • Replenishing supplies
  • Reporting missing or broken items to the Lab Coordinator
  • Re-stocking linen cabinets and removing dirty linen from tables and carts
  • Notifying program staff when linen is low
  • Performing equipment and supply inventories
  • Special equipment set-up as requested by Faculty

Students will be given instructions on what the task requires and training if need be. The students will work mostly on their own, but under the supervision of the Faculty Lab Coordinator, Anne McCarthy Jacobson, PT, DPT, MS.

This position is ongoing. 

Provide administrative support to the Office of the President. Responsibilities may include:

  • Front desk coverage for the President’s Suite (answering phone, greeting visitors, etc.)
  • Meeting and event support (Board of Trustee meetings, luncheons, receptions, etc.)
  • Maintaining and ordering office supplies 
  • Preparing and editing documents
  • Other duties and projects as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service and organization skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
