MGH Institute academic programs and departments fund Graduate Assistantships. These work opportunities allow students to earn a small stipend to offset some of their educational costs. Opportunities are limited and not guaranteed as they become available as needed. Managed through the Human Resources Department.

Student Work Opportunities

Students will be involved in a study to explore barriers and facilitators of participation in physical activity among Black women with cardiovascular disease. This position will involve 4 hours /week of work to conduct literature reviews, participate in the development of a focus group interview guide, and to conduct focus group sessions with participants. Following focus group discussions, students will be involved in transcribing data from the interviews, creating tables, and writing sections of the manuscript.

Students will be involved in a study to conduct a systematic review on effectiveness of vestibular rehabilitation in pediatric concussion. This position will involve 4 hours /week of work where the student will be conducting critical appraisal or research articles using standardized tools. The student will also be involved in data extraction from the articles, creating results table and manuscript writing.

Tedy’s Team Center of Excellence in Stroke Recovery at the MGH Institute of Health Professions is seeking a talented Graduate Assistant to support the mission of the center.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Duties will include basic administrative duties such as filing, data input, photocopying, preparing materials for events, creating signs/posters, and communicating via emails and phone calls. The Graduate Assistant will have the opportunity to participate in community events focused on stroke prevention and/or social activities for stroke survivors.

Skills required: Detail oriented, organized, strong communication, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience in Canva or willingness to learn basic design of posters/handouts/infographics desired.

Hours/location: 6 hours per week (flexible around course schedule) at the MGH IHP IMPACT Practice Center located at 2CW.

The position is for a Graduate Assistant in the Graduate Program in Physical Therapy to assist with the general maintenance of the physical therapy labs.

Responsibilities include:  

•    Putting away lab equipment and supplies
•    Cleaning mats, tables, and equipment 
•    Replenishing supplies
•    Reporting missing or broken items to the Lab Coordinator
•    Re-stocking linen cabinets and removing dirty linen from tables and carts
•    Notifying program staff when linen is low
•    Performing equipment and supply inventories
•    Special equipment set-up as requested by Faculty
 

Applicants should be physical therapy students.

The students will be given instructions on what the task requires and training if need be. The students will work mostly on their own, but under the supervision of the Faculty Lab Coordinator, Anne McCarthy Jacobson, PT, DPT, MS and PT Program Staff.

Hours: These positions each will require 4-8 hours a week, but the students may be asked to work more if assistance is needed.

The MGH Institute of Health Professions Center for Interprofessional Education & Practice is seeking motivated Graduate Assistants to be part of the team supporting the IMPACT Practice Center’s mission towards our clients and learners. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 
This role will introduce you to fundamental concepts in practice coordination. Suitable candidates will have an opportunity to grow with the center and gain longitudinal overview of client, support group participant, research participant, and simulated patient activity patterns over the semesters. 


Duties & responsibilities will include:

  • Admin & Logistics Support Tasks on campus, including data input, preparing materials for events, and communicating via emails and phone calls, including picking up the center’s main line.
  • Checking in Clients, Support Group Participants, and Research Participants as they arrive at the 2CW IPC Front Desk; alerting Centers of Client arrival; checking the estimated and greeting the actual arrivals/departures of paratransit MBTA Ride (no physical/hands-on assistance on clients); ensuring that clients have a smooth experience arriving at and departing the venue.
  • Venue Checks at 2CW IPC at the start of shift; and end of shift; ensuring that all rooms are set up and equipped; Venue Setup for patient exam sessions; resetting rooms for meetings; ensuring that supplies and equipment are delivered to all rooms.

Skills required: Client communication skills, punctuality, working in a collaborative team culture, motivated to provide good service to faculty, clients, and teammates. Training will be provided on 2CW IPC Front Desk team processes and procedures. 

Location: Most tasks will take place at the Front Desk of MGH IHP IMPACT Practice Center located at 2CW.

Hours:  Hours can be flexible around course schedule (eg. Adjusting your shift to 4-6.30pm when necessary, though your presence would be required at the end of the day’s shift.) 
Available hours during Summer Semester 2024:
• Monday 9.30-5.30pm 
• Tuesday 9.30-6.30pm 
• Wednesday 2.30-5.30pm
• Thursday 2.30-6.30pm
There may also be occasional opportunities for GAs to participate in more shifts if assistance is needed.
