MGH Institute academic programs and departments fund Graduate Assistantships. These work opportunities allow students to earn a small stipend to offset some of their educational costs. Department: Nursing Position

Title: Research Assistant

Start Date: February 1, 2022

End Date: June 30, 2022

RA Rate of Pay: $15.00/hour 

Dr. Rebecca Hill is hiring a research assistant (RA) to assist with a research project evaluating gastrointestinal symptoms for infants less than 4 months of age diagnosed with tongue-tie. The RA will be responsible for screening participants, reviewing consent forms, answering questions about the study, and assisting with data collection, data entry, and data cleaning. The RA will also need a vehicle, as we will be traveling the surrounding areas to collect samples from participants. Mileage reimbursement is available at $0.50/mile up to 100 miles of travel. This position is budgeted for 100 hours of work over approximately 4 months ($15.00/hour). The RA will be required to have active CITI training certification on the responsible conduct of research for human subjects.

Department: Office of Enrollment Services, Admissions

Title: Admissions Ambassador (Remote)

Position Start Date: Semester-Based position (Summer: May/June, Fall: August, Spring: January)
Position End Date: Semester-Based position (Summer: August, Fall: December, Spring: May/June)

Ambassador Salary: $14.25/hour 

Working within the Office of Enrollment Services, the Ambassador will:

  • Assist the Office of Admission at Admissions Events (Tours, Student Chats, Webinars, Graduate Fairs, etc.)
  • Serve as a scheduled resource for prospective, accepted, or incoming students.
  • Host virtual campus tours. (30 - 45 min)
  • Assist with recruitment efforts, lead by the Office of Enrollment Services.
  • Monitor the Admissions Online Chat questions during office-hours/scheduled times.
  • Provide operational support to Office of Admission/Enrollment Marketing with data entry, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Training will be provided by the Office of Admission, supported by the Office of Enrollment Services. 
Opportunities are available for a weekly schedule, event-specific, and night/weekend. Some nights may be available.

REMOTE WORK REQUIREMENTS: This position is fully remote for the spring and summer 2022 semesters with no in-office presence required. Use of personal computer and internet access will be required to successfully perform job duties. With the re-opening of the Institute facilities and campus offices in the summer/fall of 2022, there may be opportunities for on-campus shifts and duties.

Title: Admissions Ambassador On-Campus Tour Guide

Working within the Office of Enrollment Services, the Ambassador will:

  • Lead on-campus tours to prospective and incoming students (weekly or bi-weekly, 90 minutes
  • Assist the Office of Admission at Admissions Events (Student Chats, Webinars, Graduate Fairs, virtual campus tours, etc.)
  • Serve as a scheduled resource for prospective, accepted, or incoming students.
  • Provide operational support to Office of Admission/Enrollment Marketing with data entry, as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Training will be provided by the Office of Admission, supported by the Office of Enrollment Services. 
Opportunities are available for a weekly schedule, event-specific, and night/weekend. Some nights may be available.

HYBRID WORK REQUIREMENTS: this position is a hybrid format with fully on-campus regular responsibilities as a tour guide for the summer and fall 2022 semesters. There will be opportunities for this role to be hybrid for Admissions virtual event support, when available. Title: Social Media Admissions Ambassador

Position Start Date: Semester-Based position (Summer: May/June, Fall: August, Spring: January)

Hours per week: 2-4

Ambassador Salary: $14.25/hour 

Working within the Office of Enrollment Services, the Social Media Ambassador will:

  • Attend various trainings about the operations and guidelines of MGH IHP flagship social media accounts
  • Take photos and videos of IHP footage (such footage explained in trainings)
  • Create copy in line with the IHP brand to be paired with footage
  • Create graphics that incorporate footage
  • Partner with Admissions Ambassadors on compiling tour footage 
  • Assist the Social Media Team in the planning of strategic and branded content, including planning the post schedule
  • Other duties as assigned.

Training will be provided by by the Digital, Social Media Office, supported by the Office of Enrollment Services. 
Opportunities are available for a weekly schedule, event-specific, and night/weekend. Some nights may be available.

GA Salary: $14.25/hour 

The Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) Graduate Assistant(GA) will report and provide support to the following areas: dean, assistant to the dean, career and professional development(which includes student services and international student advisement), accessibility resources and wellness, Title IX and alumni relations. OSAS is proud to partner with the Office of Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) in realizing the IHP mission of being a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization. 

Leadership Expectations of the Role

a)    Managing social media campaigns by creating and designing engaging content in compliance with the IHP Office of Strategic Communications (OSC) best practices (policies and procedures). 
b)    Leveraging digital resources and social media, GA’s help lead OSAS and the IHP foster a sense of belonging and a culture that values holistic student wellness as well as students’ career goals and professional development.  
c)    Maintaining confidentiality – in their work as a GA, students may incidentally or directly become aware of confidential information and are expected to maintain, comply with and promote IHP confidentiality requirements.

Primary Operational Tasks

Day to day Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

•    Welcoming prospective students, students, faculty, staff, and alumni to Building 39
•    Managing IHP Student Life email account and OSAS voicemail
•    Advancement Communication submissions (IHP News)
•    Creating, editing and proof-reading leadership newsletters
•    EMS room reservations and IHP calendar submissions
•    In person and virtual program and event management and execution
•    Facilitate MBTA Student Discounted Pass administration and distribution

Research and Best Practice

•    Lead ongoing special research and best practice projects as assigned by staff members’ area of expertise
•    Assist in OSAS staff utilization data analysis
•    Advise, support and take part in IHP Wellness Council initiatives

Skills, Abilities, and Competencies Required         

a) Customer Service - Excellent organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks and frequent interruptions effectively; customer-oriented with strong interpersonal skills. 

b) Administrative - Strong computer skills required, including but not limited to Database management (Colleague/Ellucian), MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Formstack and Canva. Demonstrated competency in various social media platforms for professional use (student engagement communications) required (Instagram, Facebook and Twitter).

Fiscal/Budget Responsibility         

•    Prepare club and organization reimbursement requests

Frequent evening and occasional weekend work (in person for on- and off-campus events) is required for this position. Schedule can be adjusted accordingly at the discretion of the GA with advance approval of GA supervisor, depending on departmental or institutional needs. 

This position is will begin as a hybrid of remote and onsite work in accordance with the IHP phased reintegration plan preparing for the fall term when the IHP community are currently projected to be on campus more regularly.

Department: Occupational Therapy

Position Title: Graduate Assistant (one position available)

Hours Per Week: Varied 

Start Date: ASAP - Ongoing

Graduate Assistant Rate of Pay: $14.25/hour 

Assisting the Occupational Therapy Department, the Graduate Assistant will:

  • Assist with tasks related to clinical education, including, but not limited to communicating and liaising with potential clinical education sites and managing data in E*Value,
  • Assist with tasks related to the Advanced Doctoral Experience, including, but not limited to auditing hours, communicating with ADE students, and other tasks as assigned by the department,
  • Assist with clerical tasks in support of department operations, and
  • Assist with special events and other projects as assigned.

Applicants can be either entry‐level or post‐professional students from any department within the Institute, except Occupational Therapy, and must be able to work independently.  Applicants must be knowledgeable with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook,) as well as commonly used programs (Adobe Acrobat, web browsers, etc.)  Applicants must be customer service oriented, and possess the verbal, written, and interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with Institute faculty, staff, and students, affiliated clinical education contact persons, as well as clients and external constituencies.

Position Title: Graduate Assistant (1 position available)

Start Date: March 2022 - March 2023

Hours per week: 4-8 hours a week, but the students may be asked to work more if assistance is needed. 

Graduate Assistant Rate of Pay: $14.25/hour 

Cannot be a PT student. Assist faculty and staff with projects and events as assigned. Tasks may include data entry and organization, Zoom driver, processing admissions data, preparing event materials (power point slide shows). Projects may involve using D2L, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Suite(Outlook, Teams).
