King Yan Kwok, SLP.D., CCC-SLP, earned her Doctorate of Speech-Language Pathology from the MGH Institute of Health Professions, where she first completed her Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2013. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from Berklee College of Music. A trilingual native of Hong Kong, fluent in Cantonese, English, and Mandarin, Dr. Kwok specializes in interventions for culturally and linguistically diverse populations with speech and language disorders and additional special educational needs.
Her work within urban school districts has focused on providing specialized speech therapy for children with multiple severe disabilities, incorporating the therapeutic use of music. Dr. Kwok supervises graduate students and clinical fellows whose clinical work centers on bilingual/multilingual populations. She is also a frequent guest lecturer on non-standardized assessment methods for bilingual and multilingual school-aged children.
Dr. Kwok’s primary research interests lie in developing and evaluating best practices for using non-standardized assessment tools to diagnose speech and language disorders in bilingual and multilingual children.
