About Team IHP

The 2025 Boston Marathon Team IHP will consist of two runners. Selected runners, each of whom will be responsible for a minimum fundraising commitment of $7,500.

Since 2011, Team IHP and the Institute together have raised more than $180,000 for the MGH Institute of Health Professions. These funds have left a profound impact on the IHP students and community with contributions to many areas at the Institute including scholarships and clinical care centers. This year, Olivia Rotelle, OTD ‘22, and Abdulrahman Sabbagh, HPed ’20 will be raising money towards the Charles A. and Ann Sanders Impact Practice Center.

Background

The 2025 Boston Marathon will be my 18th marathon, a milestone tied to where my running journey began. In 2017, I volunteered with the Boston Marathon medical team and ran my first race, the BAA 5K. Now, I’m proud to return as a runner and advocate for IHP, where I earned my Master’s in Health Professions Education.

My Cause

I am running in support of the Dr. Charles A. and Ann Sanders IMPACT Practice Center, where members of the community are provided with the best approaches to wellness, chronic care, and recovery as students from multiple disciplines work in teams to provide exceptional care. The facility located allows the Institute to offer thousands of hours of free care and services – valued at more than $1 million – to the Charlestown and Boston area community.

Background

I am beyond excited to be running the 129th Boston Marathon for the IHP. Anyone who knows Boston knows the Boston Marathon is something special. Living in Boston for 5 years, watching the city come together for such an incredible day, and cheering on thousands of runners year after year…I knew I wanted to be on the other side of the fence crossing the finish line on Boylston one day. I’ve been fortunate enough to run the Chicago, New York, and Berlin Marathon’s and am eager to add Boston to the *top* of my list! Now living in Chicago, practicing as an occupational therapist at Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, I am excited to come home and support an organization that afforded me the education, opportunities, and experiences to pursue my dream career.

My Cause

I will be raising funds for the Sanders IMPACT Practice Center at the MGH IHP. The Center made an incredible difference in my education and experiences as an OT student. I want to ensure the future generations of occupational therapists and other healthcare professionals at the IHP are afforded the same. The Center facilitates an interdisciplinary approach to care through clinical simulations and discussions; allows students to collaborate with other health professions to solve problems, create care plans, and make difficult decisions as a team; and allows students the opportunity to provide hands on care to community members. All extremely invaluable experiences that adequately prepared me thrive as a new grad.
