The mission of the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Office is to transform health professions education and organizational culture to be more just and equitable. The JEDI office serves faculty, staff, students, alumni, community members, and prospective students at the IHP by: 1) educating stakeholders about equity, diversity, and inclusion issues; and 2) creating spaces for support of systemically minoritized and marginalized populations so that they can thrive at the IHP.

Power, Privilege, Positionality (PPP)
Through the PPP Orientation, - offered every semester - we build foundational knowledge (common languages: justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, power, privilege, positionality, racism, oppression, intersectionality) for all incoming IHP students and the broader IHP community. The orientation includes a speaker panel that takes a deeper diver into a dimension of JEDI as it relates to health.
The Next PPP events are:
August 30, 2023
January 10, 2024
JEDI Fellows
In late 2019 the JEDI office launched the JEDI Fellows program in response to the needs of the IHP community for engagement on anti-oppression issues. Student Fellows receive training and mentorship and then have the freedom to co-develop, pilot, and facilitate workshops and programs across campus. Fellows are embedded into the school's academic programs, working with faculty and staff to address equity issues, including curricula that often inadequately deal with how to treat patients of color.
