In this session, participants will learn about the current state of Generative AI (GAI) within context of higher education and how they might apply GAI tools in their teaching. The session will start with a discussion of the current state Generative AI, with a particular focus on getting past the hype to identify the real-world applications of this technology. We will then cover ethical issues around Generative AI to ground our use, including discussions of data privacy, intellectual property, environmental impacts, and bias. The session will conclude with a discussion of generative AI tools that you may consider using and the ways you can use them appropriately.
