Dr. Shanti Pinto is a physician-scientist in the department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. She completed her medical education at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School as part of the five-year Physician Scientist Training Program, followed by both Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency and Brain Injury Medicine Fellowship at UPMC. She received her Master of Science in Clinical Science from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in May 2024. She is funded by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) to study the link between autonomic nervous system dysfunction, cerebrovascular autoregulation impairments, and outcomes after traumatic brain injury. She was recently awarded a grant from the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) to study the association between depression and cardiovascular health after traumatic brain injury.
