Michele is a second-year graduate student in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Program at the MGH Institute of Health Professions. She earned her B.A. in Sociology from Providence College and later pursued post-baccalaureate coursework at MGHIHP to gain licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A). For over 20 years, she has provided speech and language services to students in Massachusetts public schools.

In the Speech, Physiology, and Neurobiology of Aging and Dementia (SPaN-AD) Lab, Michele contributes to data collection and administers remote speech assessments for individuals at high risk for mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Under the mentorship of Dr. Marziye Eshghi and the SPaN-AD Lab team, she is investigating the use of artificial intelligence and deep learning algorithms to detect and classify disease-related speech changes through acoustic and temporal speech biomarkers.

Her research interests include machine learning methods for the early detection of neurodegenerative disorders, monitoring clinical speech data, speech recognition technology for natural language processing, and voice cloning technology to support users of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.
