Kim Thai is a seasoned attorney with over 20 years experience in law and government.
Currently, she is the Director of Development at IQHQ, a life sciences REIT. In her role, she
oversees the entitlement and permitting process for East Coast projects along with
government and community relations. Prior to this role, Kim served as Special Assistant to
Mayors Martin J. Walsh and Kim Janey, leading programs and policies by coordinating with City
departments, State agencies, and stakeholders to improve services to the community,
unhoused, and individuals impacted by substance use and/or mental health issues in the Mass
and Cass area.
During her service with the City of Boston, Kim was the Assistant Commissioner of Plans &
Zoning and Director of Policy at the Inspectional Services Department. Kim began working at
Inspectional Services as an Assistant Corporation Counsel serving as legal counsel to the
Commissioner and department.
Prior to her career in public service, she was a founding partner at Durrigan & Thai, LLP for 8
years in Fields Corner, Dorchester, practicing immigration, real estate, probate, criminal,
bankruptcy, and contracts law. She also provided Vietnamese translation services for clients.
Kim is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and First District Court. She obtained an
undergraduate degree in military history and international relations at McGill University and
graduated from Suffolk University Law School. She served as President of the Board of
Directors at VietAID for more than ten years and was a Board member of DotHouse Health.
She lives in Boston with her son and dog.
