Kendi Ozmon is a partner in the Boston office of the international law firm Ropes & Gray LLP. She is a leader of the firm’s colleges and universities practice and heads the firm's tax-exempt organizations practice. For over 20 years, she has been a trusted advisor to tax-exempt organizations, including colleges and universities, health care organizations, research institutes, cultural institutions, and corporate and family foundations. She has obtained tax-exempt status and IRS rulings for numerous clients and provides practical guidance on a wide range of issues these organizations encounter, from day-to-day questions about grant making, filing requirements, and charitable giving, to highly sensitive matters involving conflicts of interest, corporate governance, executive compensation, and IRS audits. Kendi is often lead tax counsel in transactions that involve nonprofit organizations, including affiliations, mergers, asset acquisitions and dissolutions, notably advising on tax exemption issues. She is also deeply committed to pro bono matters has been a member of the Ropes & Gray’s Pro Bono Committee. She also chairs the firm’s committee on flexible work arrangements for attorneys. Prior to attending law school, Kendi worked in fundraising for Harvard University and served as Disability Project Coordinator for the City of Cambridge.

Kendi earned her bachelor’s degree from Harvard College, her master’s degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and her law degree from Harvard Law School. She currently serves as President of the Board of Trustees of Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, a non-profit committed to providing comprehensive and practical education on the essential elements of legal practice to the broadest possible audience of lawyers.
