Jane McDaniel earned a BS in Medical Technology from Marshall University in Huntington, WV, and a MS in Medical Education Leadership from the University of New England. She is certified as a medical laboratory scientist and a specialist in chemistry by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

In 1995, Ms. McDaniel began her career in PA education by teaching clinical laboratory medicine to PA students at Wake Forest School of Medicine PA Program, where she went on to become the Course Director for the clinical and diagnostic skills course, coordinator of basic medical skills workshops, facilitator of small groups in Wake Forest’s inquiry-based learning curriculum, student assessment evaluator, and director of admissions. She was instrumental in structuring the curriculum for the Wake Forest PA satellite campus at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.  In 2017, Ms. McDaniel became one of the founding faculty for the Yale PA Online Program. At Yale she was course director for Diagnostic Studies I and III, Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM), and Ethics, facilitator for Problem-Based Learning, Chair of Admissions, and Director of Alumni Affairs.

Ms. McDaniel has served the PA profession on the national level as a member and chair of the PAEA Recruitment and Admissions Advisory Council from 2008-2013. Most recently, she served on the PAEA Board of Directors for nine years as a Director-at-Large and as Secretary. She has authored numerous articles published in multiple journals, presented posters and been an invited speaker at local, state, national and international meetings.  She has received numerous teaching/service awards during her career, including the PAEA Outstanding Achievement Award in 2012 and the Yale Med Ed Day Poster Award for Innovation in Education in 2018.  Her clinical/academic interests include problem-based learning, PA admissions, curriculum design and evaluation, and online education.
