Hyunji is interested in analyzing speech production through perceptual, acoustic, and kinematic lens to understand clinical typology in motor disorders, and in turn, to understand how it affects participation restrictions in day-to-day communication contexts.
Her research investigates the connection between speech motor deficits and social (dis)connectedness in individuals with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, with the goal of informing clinical interventions that facilitate communicative participation and social interactions.
