Eileen Gillan, PT, DPT, is a physical therapist, Board Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist, and current PhD student in Rehabilitation Sciences, under the mentorship of Dr. Elise Townsend, PT, DPT, PhD.
Since her graduation from the MGH IHP’s DPT program in 2017, Eileen has practiced clinically as an inpatient physical therapist across the acute care setting at Mass General Hospital, with expertise in the care of neurologically complex children and neonates in both intensive care and step-down units. Her research interests include identifying predictive factors for recovery following central nervous system insults in childhood to better target clinical interventions and maximize outcomes.
Eileen joins Dr. Townsend’s ongoing lines of research into the development and validation of outcome measures in rare pediatric neurogenetic diseases. Through collaborative work with Dr. Florian Eichler of the MGH Center for Rare Neurological Diseases and recent PhD RS graduate Dr. Michael Kiefer, their work seeks to support the investigation of clinical change in response to novel gene therapies.
