Bonnie Halvorson-Bourgeois '07, MS, CCC-SLP, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and is the Coordinator of Literacy Services in the Julie Atwood Speech Language and Literacy Center (SLLC).
She teaches courses and provides clinical education for first-year MS graduate students, and educators completing the Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) in Language and Literacy. She specializes in spoken-written language relationships and Structured Literacy intervention methods for building foundational reading and writing skills. She is particularly interested in supporting student clinicians in fostering intrinsic motivation among striving readers. She views literacy as a civil and human right and infuses client-centered care into her clinical education. Bonnie has foundation-level training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and integrates these practices to support student well-being and effective clinical learning.
