Health Equity and Community Excellence are core values at the IHP. For us, this means embodying an educational and community environment that is prepared to advance health equity and is a place where all members are respected, valued and supported to thrive with a robust understanding of social context and lived experiences.
Through this Community Excellence Course (CEC) - What’s the IHP’s Role in Health Equity? - offered three times a year for faculty, staff and incoming students during orientation - we are building foundational knowledge for all incoming IHP students and the broader IHP community. This is designed to advance capacity in the Health Equity and Community Excellence Core Competency areas to provide quality and effective care for all patients, with an understanding of a variety of lived experiences. In addition, every semester, this course includes a speaker panel that takes a deeper examination of Health Equity and Community Excellence.
