Virtual Professional Development Series

100% Online | Live + Recorded Sessions | 6 Expert-Led Topics | 0.6 ASHA CEUs

Today’s speech-language pathologists (SLPs) are expected to do more than deliver excellent clinical care. The skills required to lead, grow, and make meaningful impact across settings and systems extend far beyond what most clinical programs teach. This course is designed to fill that gap.

Developed by SLPs, for SLPs—and informed by a needs assessment of 300+ clinicians and educators—this 12-week virtual cohort equips participants with practical, future-ready skills in leadership, communication, artificial intelligence, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and advocacy. Through expert-led sessions, interactive learning, and a supportive peer community, participants will gain the tools and confidence to intentionally design their careers and expand their impact—both within and beyond the clinic.

Format: Online
Class Dates: May 19 – August 13, 2026

This course will explore the essential non-clinical skills required for SLPs to adapt, grow, and lead in today’s evolving professional landscape. Participants will engage in topics including leadership, communication, artificial intelligence, pay and contract essentials, entrepreneurship, and advocacy—gaining a broader understanding of how these competencies shape professional practice. Through a cohort-based format, participants will engage in expert-led sessions, guided reflection, and applied activities designed to translate knowledge into practice.

Developed by Dr. Rinki Varindani Desai in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the MGH Institute of Health Professions, this innovative course is designed to empower both SLP students and practicing clinicians, supporting the evolving role of the future-ready SLP.
