Early Intervention (EI) refers to services and supports for children from birth to age three and their families. Children who qualify based on developmental delays, disabilities, or in some states, child or family-related risk factors, can receive services at no (or low) cost. Early Intervention services are provided using a family-centered coaching model to empower families in promoting their child’s development. Connecting families to EI services is an important role of primary care providers (PCP).
