The graduates of the first MGH Institute Doctor of Audiology class entered the profession well-prepared by the stellar MGH Institute faculty. Now one of those faculty members will be bringing her talents to the board of the organization committed to advancing the science, practice, and accessibility of hearing and health care for patients.

Members of the American Academy of Audiology elected Director of Clinical Education and Assistant Professor of Audiology Emily Venskytis as a member-at-large on the organization’s board of directors. Venskytis began volunteering with the Academy as a graduate student and has been involved in various committees since then. She was accepted to the Jerger Future Leaders in Audiology Conference in 2024 and gained a more in-depth understanding of the structure of the organization and how to be an effective leader. That is where Venskytis attracted the attention of the nominating committee for this year’s slate.  The current board approved her application and she voted in by the national membership.

“I appreciate the collective voice that the Academy provides and the drive for audiologists to practice at the top of their license,” said Venskytis.

Venskytis has a lot of experience working with audiologists who practice in a variety of settings. As the Director of Clinical Education at the MGH Institute, Venskytis works with audiologists across the New England area and beyond.

“Through my connections and relationships, I have an ear for the needs of audiologists in all practice types, and I hope to represent these providers in this new capacity as an Academy leader during my three-year term,” shared Venskytis.
