The MGH Institute’s commitment to fostering academic excellence, belonging, and community has been recognized with a 2025 Health Professions Higher Education Excellence and Distinction (HEED) Award for the ninth consecutive year. It is the only health professions institution in Massachusetts to receive the award.

With a mission of improving health outcomes and equity through innovative education and research, the MGH Institute is dedicated to educating health professionals and researchers to drive innovation in the delivery of equitable and interprofessional care. The Office of Mission, Values, and Community Excellence leads efforts to integrate health equity concepts and practices into the curriculum, research, and institutional policies in support of that mission.

“I am so proud to be a part of the MGH Institute of Health Professions community. As an institution, we are committed to our Mission, Vision and Core Values,” said Kim Truong, chief health equity and community excellence officer at the MGH Institute. “Being recognized for the ninth year highlights our efforts to continuously build on our efforts as we work together to improve health equity and community excellence as a community.

Insight into Academia Magazine is the oldest and largest publication dedicated to best practices in higher education. There were 29 recipients of the 2025 Health Professions HEED Award and 62 recipients of the 2025 Higher Education Excellence and Distinction Award.

“We take a detailed and somewhat holistic approach to reviewing each application in determining who will be named a HEED Award recipient,” said Lenore Pearlstein, Co-Publisher of Insight into Academia magazine. “Our standards are high, and we look for institutions where academic excellence and belonging are woven into the work being done every day across their campus.”
