The School of Nursing has a new leadership face, and she’s no stranger to the MGH Institute of Health Professions.

She is Debra Blyth-Wilk and starting next month, she will be the new Assistant Dean of Prelicensure.

Blyth-Wilk comes to the MGH Institute from Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, where she was the Executive Director for Nursing Practice Excellence. Simultaneously, she has been an assistant professor at the Institute for more than a decade.

A DNP graduate of the Institute with a law degree, Blyth-Wilk brings a lot to the table, said Pat Reidy, Interim Dean for the School of Nursing.

“She has that background within rehab nursing and bedside nursing, and she has taught within the pre licensure program,” said Reidy. “Plus, she really knows hospital systems and their strengths quality and safety, which is an area that we're also trying to develop more within our nursing programs. Debra’s experience with the IHP and Mass General Brigham is a plus because already she knows a number of the systems and has experience with them.”

Blyth-Wilk is settling into her Shouse office and is working part-time until July 1, when her full-time role officially begins.

“I’m honored to step into the role of Assistant Dean for Prelicensure programs at the IHP,” said Blyth-Wilk. “I look forward to working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to strengthen our programs and elevate nursing education.”
