The Master of Science in Nursing program at MGH Institute of Health Professions is the third highest-ranked program in Greater Boston, according to the 2022 Best Graduate Schools list released March 30 by U.S. News & World Report. 

The direct-entry program, in which people with a bachelor’s degree in any field spend three years learning to become a nurse practitioner, moved up two slots nationally and is now tied for 69th out of 220 programs according to the publication. It is ranked third in Massachusetts and tied for 5th in New England. 

Three of the MGH Institute’s programs in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences – the Doctor of Physical Therapy, the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology, and the Doctor of Occupational Therapy – remain highly ranked according to the 2021 list. U. S. News did not rank those programs in 2022 as it traditionally reviews them every three years.
 
The Doctor of Physical Therapy is the top-ranked program in New England, and is 9th out of 217 ranked programs in the country, placing it in the top 4% of all physical therapy programs. 

The Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology is also the top-ranked program in New England, coming in tied for 10th in the country out of 260 ranked programs. It is in the top 4% of all speech-language pathology programs nationally.  

The Doctor of Occupational Therapy, in its first year of eligibility, is ranked 23rd in the country. The OTD, which was the first entry-level doctoral program developed in New England, is the third-highest ranked program in Massachusetts and in the top 12% out of 193 ranked programs. 

The Doctor of Nursing Practice was not included in 2022 because U. S. News ranked only in-person programs. The MGH Institute’s DNP is primarily an online program. It was ranked 69th nationally in the 2021 list, putting it 4th in Massachusetts and tied for 7th in New England. 

All the programs are integrated into the MGH Institute’s renowned interprofessional education and practice curriculum, known as IMPACT Practice, in which students learn from and with each other so they are prepared to work in health care teams that improve patient outcomes.
