School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and School of Nursing programs continue to be among the best in New England

MGH Institute of Health Professions programs continue to be recognized with impressive rankings from U.S. News & World Report, according to the 2025 Best Graduate Schools list released today.

Three programs in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences are ranked in the top 20 nationally and join two programs in the School of Nursing as being among the top-rated programs in New England. 

The Doctor of Physical Therapy program is the top-ranked program in New England and tied for 10th nationally out of 265 ranked programs in the country, placing it in the top 4% of all physical therapy programs.

The Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology is second in New England and tied for 11th nationally out of 284 ranked programs. It is in the top 4% of all Speech-Language Pathology programs in the country. 

The Entry Level Doctor of Occupational Therapy is ranked third in New England and ranked 18th in the country, placing it in the top 7% out of 283 programs.

“Having these three programs ranked among the best in the country is a testament to our faculty’s contributions to research, service to their professions, and innovative teaching methods,” said Laura Plummer, PT, DPT, EdD, dean of School of Health and Rehabilitative Sciences. “It also speaks to our students’ commitment to learning and becoming the best in the fields, and the influence our alumni have had on practice in their respective fields.”

The Master of Science in Nursing jumped nine positions nationally and is ranked second in Massachusetts and third in New England. 

The Doctor of Nursing Practice is ranked second in Massachusetts and tied for fourth in New England. The post-professional program moved up 12 slots in this year’s rankings of all DNP programs.

They underscore our continued focus on academic excellence, innovation in clinical education, and leadership in advancing the nursing profession.”

The MGH Institute is the only degree-granting affiliate of Mass General Brigham.
