Team HIP IHP Hooray! is a bit healthier after completing Be Fit, Massachusetts General Hospital's 10-week program to improve the health and well-being. The team’s measurement included steps, exercise minutes, weight loss.

“Participating on our Be Fit team was transformative for me - the program helped me to improve my wellness!” said Rachel Pittmann, Assistant Dean for Interprofessional Practice Center for Interprofessional Education and Practice. “I felt well supported in improving my physical fitness, taking baby steps, and being supported along the way by Clubs at Charles River Park’s personal trainer, Joe Dankese. I also felt well supported in improving my understanding of nutrition – learning the differences between soluble and insoluble fibers, enriched flour vs. whole grains, and the positive impacts Omega 3 foods have on cholesterol, to name a few. The program was fantastic, and I feel motivated to continue to apply what I learned in the program to my everyday life.”

Team HIP IHP Hooray! was made up of co-captain Mary O’Donnell and Rebecca Pham and general team members Jessica Andrade, Esther Ayuk, Pooja Jethani, Maninderjit Kaur, Rachel Pittmann, Tasneem Pota, Mary Rasner, Pat Reidy, Diane Smith, Latoya Trowers-Bell, Kimberly Truong, Michelle Wallace, Sally Wu, and Lisa Moran.

“There’s more to this than the numbers suggest,” said Chief Equity Officer Kimberly Truong. “The results don’t describe how holistic and supportive this program is in that each of us set our own goals, engaged in collective learning, and worked to sustain our efforts through and hopefully beyond this program in an encouraging and judgement-free zone. While we were ‘competing’ with another team, we actually approached supporting whatever goals each individual set for themselves and many were not associated with the outcomes or measurements.”
