Nearly 150 members of the MGH Institute community crowded into the sunlit conference room in 1 CW Tuesday and congratulated their colleagues for a job well done. It was Pillars of Excellence Awards day, a time when nine individuals and four teams were celebrated.

As “roomies and zoomies” looked on (those in-person and those online), Human Resources director Sarah Welch said the Institute looks forward to the Pillars of Excellence program every year “because it allows us to recognize your achievements in our collective commitment to our mission. Mass General Brigham has a long-standing history of celebrating the outstanding contribution of talented employees across our organization, and we're delighted to continue this tradition.”

Similar events are occurring throughout the system to celebrate the outstanding contributions of talented employees across the organization. This marks the 30th year of recognizing the individuals and teams whose contributions reflect the very best of the MGH Institute of Health Professions.

“These awards honor not only excellence, but also the commitment, the leadership, the service and integrity that strengthen our community and advance our mission,” said MGH Institute President Deborah Jones. “Our mission is to educate health professionals and researchers to lead innovation in the delivery of equitable interprofessional care for a diverse and complex society. And today's honorees bring that mission to life through excellence in education, practice, scholarship and community engagement. This is especially a meaningful moment for me to join you for my very first event as your president. And in my time here, so far, I have already seen the extraordinary talent, the dedication, the commitment that defined this community.”

Following virtual remarks by President and CEO of Mass General Brigham, Dr. Anne Klibanski, Welch and Provost Reamer Bushardt handed out the individual and team Pillars Awards.
