As sunlight bounced off the Boston Harbor waters and into the event room at 1 CW, more than 100 MGH Institute faculty and staff gathered for a celebratory lunch to mark progress, resilience, and creativity.

“We have experienced some challenging times over the last several years, but you have been steadfast in your support of the IHP,” President Paula Milone-Nuzzo told those gathered. “You have helped each other, you have boosted each other’s morale, and you have courageously worked to improve our Institute.”

With the fall semester underway, the IHP has surpassed the 1,700-student enrollment mark for the first time.

President Milone-Nuzzo spoke of how the Schools of Nursing and Health and Rehabilitation Sciences have done more to attract students, including new partnerships, personalized communication with applicants, content highlighting the student experience and value of an IHP degree, redesigned curriculums, and modernizing admissions and enrollment systems.

“Today is not the end of this work, as we have much more to do — together — but as I look across our campus, it is unmistakable to see the incredible efforts, ingenuity and passion that is transforming how we recruit, admit, and support our IHP students,” marveled Milone-Nuzzo, who called special attention to Provost Reamer Bushardt. “(He) came to us two years ago on a mission to advance our enrollment, innovate in the academic space and ready the IHP for the future.  He has helped us to do all of that and I want to publicly thank him today for his leadership.”

Milone-Nuzzo said the IHP’s research portfolio is close to the $50 million revenue mark and thanked the finance team for helping “us see what was previously unclear and to make decisions based on data. For the first time in years, we have been able to hold tuition to a 0% increase overall and provide MGH with a FY25 budget based on the parameters they have requested of us.

“I could go on and on because there is not one department, one office, one program, or one person who has not contributed to this success.  You all have made this celebration today possible.  Thank you seems inadequate but please know that each of you are valued and are an integral part of our IHP community.”
