BRIEF: Venskytis Completes Competitive Academy of Audiology Leaders Program
Emily Jo Venskytis, AuD, Assistant Professor in the audiology program and Director of Clinical Education, was one of only a dozen audiologists nationwide selected to participate in a future leaders program. Venskytis recently completed the Jerger Future Leaders in Audiology Conference (JFLAC), an intensive three-day program of the American Academy of Audiology that took place in the Academy’s Reston, VA headquarters.
Held every other year, the conference accepts audiologists with six to eleven years of experience; typically, audiologists apply more than once but Venskytis got in on her first try.
JFLAC alum typically go on to hold leadership positions in the Academy and in their respective roles.
“I have known the impact of this conference on leaders in the audiology community for many years and I was eagerly awaiting when I would be eligible to apply,” said Venskytis, who also serves as a clinical audiologist at Massachusetts Eye and Ear in the Charlestown office. “Being selected for participation this year was an honor. Over the three days, we were given tools to make us successful leaders throughout our professional lives. The training I received at this conference will help me to be successful in the audiology community, where I have taken a leadership position as the Chair-Elect of the Clinical and Scientific Excellence in Audiology Council, and in my role as the Director of Clinical Education here at the IHP. I look forward to seeing how I can continue to apply the skills to my roles moving forward.”
