First-year Communication and Science Disorder students enjoyed a hands-on learning opportunity with Dr. James Heaton and Dr. Sofia Vallila Rohter in their neuroanatomy class on Friday.
Heaton, an adjunct professor, and Vallila Rohter, an associate professor and co-director of the Cognitive Neuroscience Group, have been co-teaching the neuroanatomy course for more than a decade. During class, Heaton discussed the brain blood supply and brought in pipe cleaners to help the students better understand the vascular system.
"In class, we try to use drawings, dissection, and activities like these pipe cleaners to bring tough neuroanatomy content to life," said Vallila Rohter.
