Last Friday, Nadiah Abdul Khalil, an MGH Institute research audiologist, and Research Assistant Sydney Zech demonstrated audiology testing to ten undergraduate students from Emerson College. It was part of the students’ Introduction to Audiology course at Emerson.
Since Emerson does not have audiology facilities on campus, the instructor contacted the audiology program at the MGH Institute to use the newly opened Hearing Dynamics Laboratory. Pairs of students, one observing the other being tested, then swapped places during the hour-long session.
“It’s a great way to introduce undergrads to our audiology program,” said Andrea Pitman, director of the Doctor of Audiology Program and the Hearing Dynamics Lab, where the testing takes place. “And it’s a nice way to support undergraduate programs in the area.”
This was the final group from Emerson to take part in the demonstration. Approximately two dozen Emerson students participated over the span of several weeks.
