School of Nursing Instructor Cassandra Mombrun has officially begun her tenure presidency of the New England Regional Black Nurses Association (NERBNA), an organization dedicated to investigating, defining and determining the health care needs of African Americans throughout New England. Mombrun-Francois at Friday night’s annual Excellence in Nursing Awards.
Mombrun-Francois is no stranger to NERBNA, most recently serving as Vice-President during her 14-year tenure. She also has won the Presidential Award, the most prestigious honor bestowed by the organization, and the Excellence in Teaching Award, which she won last year.
In addition to her leadership role she keeps her nursing skills sharp by working per diem at Boston Children’s Hospital, says she plans to uphold and strengthen NERBNA’s legacy and is looking forward to working alongside members, collaborators, and sponsors to provide educational programs that enhance nurses’ competencies in leadership and ethical practice.
“Together, we will continue advocating for health equity and reducing the disparities that affect minority populations through community health initiatives targeting critical issues such as cardiovascular disease, asthma, cancer, infant mortality and many more,” Mombrun stated in her President’s Welcome remarks.
