Dr. Kathy Lyons (left), director of the MGH Institute’s Cancer Rehabilitation (CaRe) Lab and a professor of occupational therapy, received the 2023 Excellence in Cancer Rehabilitation Award from the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM).

The yearly award recognizes someone who has demonstrated excellence in the field of interdisciplinary cancer rehabilitation in one or more important areas including, but not limited to, clinical care, medical education, or research.

Lyons, who joined the IHP in 2021, focuses her research on developing the evidence base for cancer rehabilitation and psycho-oncology. Her primary area of interest is in developing and testing participant-directed interventions that are tailored to address individual priorities and needs.

The CaRe Lab’s objective is to advance knowledge and clinical practice related to reducing disability and improving the functional well-being and quality of life of individuals living with and beyond cancer.
