As part of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AA+PI) Heritage Month, the MGH Institute welcomed Dr. Darshan Mehta, MD, MPH, Medical Director at Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Education Director at Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, for a talk titled: Intentional Well-Being - Reducing Stress and Enhancing Social Connection. Speaking to an Institute audience last week in Shouse, Dr. Mehta shared insights on fostering well-being through mindful practices and building meaningful social connections.
Dr. Rebecca Pham, an instructor in the Department of Physical Therapy, was one of the attendees.
“I really enjoyed having a speaker who shared not only expertise in an area of research that supports healthcare provider wellbeing, wellness, and resilience, but also someone who is really committed to creating tangible community spaces to serve providers and empower providers to prioritize their mental and psychosocial wellbeing using meditation, mindfulness, and other wellness strategies,” said Pham. “As providers and educators, we often prioritize the needs of others over our own. This was a great reminder of how taking care of ourselves individually and collectively can allow us to be more resilient, effective providers.
