The Office of Alumni Relations has launched an alumni-owned business directory, a first for the Institute.  The directory’s purpose is to support alumni-owned businesses/private practices, recognize entrepreneurship, connect alumni business owners to each other, and provide members of the Institute community with a resource they can use in their professional and personal lives.

The seed for the idea formed when Katie Mulcahy, Director of Alumni Relations, kept noticing alumni posting about their businesses on a variety of social media platforms.

“It was one here and then one there and then I saw a pattern forming” said Mulcahy.  “Since the goal of the Office of Alumni Relations is to build community, support IHP graduates throughout their professional journey, and celebrate their accomplishments, I knew that bringing alumni-business owners together would be a wonderful way to achieve this goal.”

The directory, which is free to join and currently accepting new applications, welcomes businesses that are specific to the health professions and those that are not.

Alumni will also have an opportunity to connect with each other virtually at a gathering planned for later this fall.

“Running a business is often a solitary endeavor that can be lonely at times,” added Mulcahy.  “This directory, coupled with the opportunity to connect virtually, will provide alumni with a ready-made list of collaborators and mentors who all share the same unifying link, being an IHP graduate. Additionally, IHP community members who need resources for their patients/clients can use this directory knowing that at the root of each graduate’s practice is the rigorous program they completed at the IHP.

“This is an exciting new venture for the IHP that is filled with so many possibilities that I can’t wait to explore.”
