There were plenty of sweet treats in Shouse on Tuesday. The IHP Staff Council Community Service Committee sponsored the 7th Annual Halloween Bake Sale, featuring various Halloween-themed snacks, including witch-hat cupcakes and skeleton marshmallows. The assortment of treat were made by volunteer bakers: Michelle Molle, Sheila Regan, Natalie Lewis, Lauren Talbouret, Katherine Mulcahy, Tyler Leary, Gail D’Ovidio, Mary Rasner, Jane Baldwin, Jacqueline Nigro, Ann (Annie), Katherine Holland, Kathleen Socha, Patricia Dunn, Valerie Grande, Gayun Chan-Smutko, Rachel Renaux and Megan Wilcox.
In addition to delighting everyone’s sweet tooth, the bake sale raised $429 for the Student Emergency Fund. According to Community Service Committee members Valerie Grande and Patricia Peterson, the Student Emergency Fund was started during COVID by the Office of Development to help students in financial need.
In an email about the event, Committee Chair Katikie Appleberry said events such as the bake sale are crucial because they, “provide vital support for students who might face unexpected challenges, ensuring they have the resources they need to continue their education.”
