First-Year Speech Language Pathology students spent some time on Monday asking questions and learning more about different paths that may interest them within the field. They heard about the different clinical opportunities, classes, skills, and experiences from concentration chairs Suzanne Pennington on Adult Acquired Communication Disorders, Autism Disorders from Sarah Friel, Early Intervention from Jenn Mackey, Literacy with preparation for reading specialist licensure from the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education from Trish Kelley-Nazzaro, Medical Speech-language Pathology from Lisa Moran, and Voice Disorders from Meredith O’Dea and Jason Muise.

Being able to talk to the concentration chairs allowed students to narrow in on their passion within SLP.

“It was good to talk to a lead of a concentration and find out what is needed for concentration, if it’s worth it, the experiences you’ll get with the concentration, what it entails and how that aligns with your interests," said Caitlin Mosher.

Added Edan Caggiano: “I currently have a lot of interest in different areas, so to get to see what these concentrations can offer helped me solidify what I maybe would and wouldn’t want to concentrate in.”
