Liz Pipes, the Chief of Staff to President Paula Milone-Nuzzo, was the center of attention during a farewell gathering held in her honor Tuesday at 1 CW. Faculty, staff and members of the Board of Trustees attended the event.

“Liz is so much a part of the IHP and represents the IHP and will be incredibly missed,” said Milone-Nuzzo. "Everyone knows her. Everyone values her work. She's known for her historical knowledge. If you want to know something about what happened several years ago, Liz is the person that we all go to.

"She has expertly planned and executed more receptions - not this one,” said Milone-Nuzzo, as the room erupted in laughter, “More receptions than you can count, and she has done it with incredible grace. But mostly, everyone knows her warm smile and her welcoming approach.”

Pipes joined the IHP in 2004 and was the program manager for the Medical Imaging program. She moved to the President’s Office in 2011 then became Chief of Staff in 2018.  Pipes won Employee of Year along with multiple awards and had a role in nearly every significant IHP project coming out of the President’s office through the years, including the recently completed Strategic Plan.

“On behalf of past and present Trustees, I want to thank you. We're an all-volunteer army, and you make us feel like we're kings and queens. You make the job seamless. We love working with you,” said Jeanette Ives-Erickson, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “We have depended on you for many, many years and I know trustees before us depended on you. You are much beloved – look at the crowd here. On behalf of the Trustees and everyone in the room, I want to say thank you.”

A gift bag and flowers were given to Pipes, who had a short but grateful goodbye:

“I just love you all and I'm appreciative of your support through the years, so thank you very much.”
