Samantha Bernstein, Assistant Professor Nursing, has been named to the Class of 2025 Fellows of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).
The Washington, D.C.-based organization recognizes nurse leaders who have made, “substantive and sustained contributions to the health of women and newborns beyond the expectations of their role,” according to its website. “They have demonstrated outstanding contributions to clinical practice, research, education, advocacy, or policy at the regional, national, or global level that is reflective of AWHONN’s mission and vision. Becoming an AWHONN Fellow demonstrates a commitment to the profession and to the highest standards of nursing care in the specialty of women’s health, obstetric, or neonatal nursing.”
Bernstein, a former Massachusetts General Hospital nurse, is a researcher and maternity nursing expert for MCN: The American Journal of Maternal/Child Nursing.
“Becoming a Fellow of AWHONN is a recognition of my program of research improving how nurses care for pregnant families,” said Bernstein. “This year, I plan to expand my research through the Human Factors in Nursing Lab which I founded last year. It’s very meaningful to be acknowledged for this work, alongside so many other great obstetric nurses.”
