Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy Jane Baldwin has been appointed by Governor Maura Healey to the Board of Allied Health Professions. The Board oversees the licensing of physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapist assistants, and athletic trainers. Responsibilities include oversight of the rules and regulation pertaining to these practice areas and responding to complaints including fraud, practicing under the influence, and practicing with a lapsed license.
“I’m excited to serve on the Board of Allied Health Professions,” said Baldwin, who joined the Institute’s physical therapy faculty in 2007. “I’m honored to be part of an interdisciplinary team that works together to assure the public safety of those receiving services from physical therapists or physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists and occupational therapist assistants as well as athletic trainers.”
Baldwin, Coordinator of Marjorie Ionta Physical Therapy Center for Clinical Education, hopes the board can streamline the ease of getting licensed in MA, especially for those who are licensed in other jurisdictions. She will serve with colleague Diane Smith, professor of occupational therapy for the MGH Institute.
