Eileen Murphy, a 1993 graduate of the MGH Institute’s Master of Science in Nursing program, is the recipient of the 2024 American Association of Nurse Practitioners State Award for Excellence in Vermont, according to Gifford Health System.

Murphy, who specializes in primary care at Gifford's Chelsea Health Center, has worked as a nurse practitioner for over 25 years.

“Eileen, with her vast experience caring for patients, is deeply deserving of the AANP State Award for Excellence in Vermont,” said Gifford Chief Medical Officer Dr. Joshua White. “We are grateful to have her on our team and congratulate her on this much-deserved recognition.”

Established in 1993, the AANP State Award for Excellence is given to a nurse practitioner in each state who demonstrates excellence in clinical care. Awards are distributed to the recipients throughout the year, with recipients honored during AANP’s annual national conference. Murphy will receive her award at the 2024 AANP National Conference this June in Nashville, Tenn.

“Eileen is a fierce advocate in every facet of her professional life,” said Maureen B. Boardman, who nominated Murphy, citing her leadership in the Vermont Nurse Practitioners Association and her work to start the primary care nurse practitioner residency at the White River Junction VA Medical Center. “Her representation on the Primary Care Advisory Group for the Green Mountain Care Board gives a voice to all nurse practitioners in the state of Vermont as well as the patients we care for.”
