MGH Institute of Health Professions audiology students helped to raised awareness and fund for hearing loss and inclusion on Sunday. They joined the Boston Walk4Hearing, an annual event organized by the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA).The event brought together individuals with hearing loss, families, advocates, and professionals to promote understanding, empowerment, and community connection. Held annually in cities across the country, the Walk4Hearing fosters awareness, advocacy, and inclusion for individuals with hearing loss while connecting communities to local resources and support.
“Being a part of the Walk4Hearing this past Sunday was an incredibly enriching experience,” said Wendy Vong, Class of 2027. “It’s rare to find an event that not only empowers people with hearing loss but creates such a tight-knit community of individuals with a shared mission. The energy, support, and sense of belonging was there from start to finish.”
Jacqueline Foley, Class of 2027, reflected on the broader impact of the experience: “Walking alongside patients, families, and advocates reminded me that audiology is more than diagnostics. Rather, it’s about connection, empowerment, and community. This experience reaffirmed why I chose this field: to amplify voices, foster inclusion, and collaborate toward a future where hearing health is accessible to everyone.”
