We are a clinical neuroscience laboratory with special interest in helping people recover from neurologic injury. We use tools such as transcranial magnetic stimulation, vagus nerve stimulation, functional imaging, and rehabilitation to help understand disease and develop novel interventions to help people improve in their day-to-day life.
Multimodal Dystonia Study
In this study we investigate how the brain controls different muscles, using transcranial magnetic brain stimulation (TMS) & brain imaging techniques.
Stroke Recovery Research
Impaired use of the arm and hand are a major source of disability for people after a stroke. In the Brain Recovery Lab, we are examining novel ways to enhance recovery after stroke. We recently completed an investigation of the effectiveness of Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) paired with intensive arm rehabilitation - it has been FDA-approved and is being clinically implemented at Massachusetts General Hospital in partnership with Spaulding Rehabilitation Network.
