Dr. Susan Stevens, DNP, MS, MEd, PMHNP, BC is a doctorally prepared, certified psychiatric nurse practitioner and educator who has taught in institutions of higher education for more than 40 years and practices in psychiatric/mental health with a diverse patient population in a medically underserved area. Her nursing practice has focused on medically underserved areas with vulnerable populations. Presently, she focuses the delivery of her specialty care on refugee/asylum populations and people living with complex trauma as well as patients with diverse psychiatric problems and substance abuse. In her educator role, she has been instrumental in developing the psychiatric nursing specialty curriculum, teaching core courses, developing and implementing simulation with standardized patients into curriculum courses, and mentoring students in evidence-based practice. She holds a Master’s Degree in Research and Evaluation and has managed and evaluated several large projects, as well as the curriculum within the PMHNP track.
