Dr. Antonia Makosky, DNP, MPH, ANP-BC is an assistant professor in the School of Nursing at MGH Institute of Health Professions. Dr. Makosky teaches in the Direct Entry Program. She is a board-certified Adult Nurse Practitioner.

Dr. Makosky completed her Masters in Public Health at Boston University in 1990, and her Masters in Nursing at the IHP in 1997. Since then, she has practiced as a home care and hospice nurse, and as a Nurse Practitioner in Homeless Shelters, Internal Medicine, and Community Health Center settings. She also cared for patients at the Partners Isolation Hotel in Revere early during the pandemic. 

Dr. Makosky has taught at the IHP since 2007 and enjoys precepting students at her practice at the MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center. Professional interests include equity and inclusion, global and immigrant health, as well as LGBTQIA health. Prior to NP school Dr. Makosky served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Congo DRC. Since becoming an NP Dr. Makosky has worked in several additional global health settings, for short term volunteer work as well as longer term assignments with Doctors without Borders. Dr. Makosky serves as School of Nursing Representative on the Institute’s JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) Council, and on the Antiracism, Equity and Inclusion Committee at the MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center
