Dr. Shweta Gore, Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, is looking to recruit 2 student research assistants to work on her ongoing projects in the activity and mobility lab. These projects involve use of nationally available secondary data to examine how physical activity and function change over time in older adults with multimorbidity. This project will require 2-4 hours per week of dedicated time which will involve conducting literature reviews, data cleaning, data management, and research writing.

RA Rate of Pay: $15.00/hour 

As a member of the interdisciplinary research team, provides research and administrative support to the Principal Investigator/Project Director of the Integrated Healthcare Partnership project.  The position provides administrative and research support, including participant recruitment, data collection, data analysis, maintenance of records, participation in manuscript preparation, and dissemination. Normal office environment in cubicle and remote work. 

  • Provides administrative and research support to the PI/PD including, preparation of data collection instruments, data collection, participation in data analysis and manuscript preparation and dissemination. 
  • Collaborates with PI/PD to monitor research budget and reports.
  • Produces and maintains record of processes and procedures for the project.
  • Collaborates effectively with established clinical partners. 
  • Assist with execution of project goals (data gathering, fidelity to intervention).
  • Assist with data management (ensure electronic data capture aligns with manual of operations).
  • Coordinate and attend all regular project meetings.
  • Review, evaluate and make verbal or written reports as directed by PI/PD.
  • Perform special projects or other related duties as responsibilities necessitate.
  • Must be motivated to learn and flexible to change.

Teaching Assistant Rate of Pay: $15/hour

Hours Per Week: Varied

The Physical Dysfunction TA will assist the course director in the following tasks (estimate of TOTAL hours for each task in parentheses):

  • Attend all labs and coordinate content delivery with course faculty and lab instructors, including set up and break down of lab equipment, facilitating participation of quarantined students (30 hours) 
  • Assist in the set-up of the competency exams (4 hours) 
  • Hold two 90-minute lab review sessions prior to each competency exam (3 hours)  
  • Assist with logistics and administration of competency exams (9 hours)
  • Monitor and respond to discussion board posts regarding course content (4 hours)
  • Assist in other course activates and preparation as needed (copying, posting materials, organizing supplies, etc.) (15 hours) 

Total time commitment is approximately 5 hours per week. Time commitment may vary weekly based on required course activities. A detailed schedule will be provided prior to the start of classes. 

Applicants can be either second year entry‐level OTD students or students from the PhD or DPT program with a physical dysfunction background. The candidate must be able to work independently and be knowledgeable in D2L, MS Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook,) as well as commonly used programs (Adobe Acrobat, web browsers, etc.) Applicants must be student oriented, and possess the verbal, written, and interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with Institute faculty, staff, and students.

  • Front desk coverage for the President’s Suite (answering phone, greeting visitors, etc.)

Position Title: Graduate Assistant

Graduate Assistant Rate of Pay: $15/hour 

This Graduate Assistant is responsible for providing on-campus administrative support to a variety of projects and programs within the Office of the Provost. Typical duties include:

  • Provide service at the reception desk for the Office of the Provost
  • Perform a variety of administrative tasks including data entry and analysis, collating materials, and presentations
  • Provide assistance with event planning/staffing
  • Assist with the coordination of volunteers for our Harvard-Kent partnership
  • Other tasks as needed

Position Title: Graduate Assistant
Start Date: February 6, 2023 - August 30, 2024
Graduate Assistant Rate of Pay: $15/hour 

The position is for a Graduate Assistant in the Graduate Program in Physical Therapy to assist with the general maintenance of the physical therapy labs. Typical duties include:

  • Putting away lab equipment and supplies
  • Cleaning mats, tables, and equipment 
  • Replenishing supplies
  • Reporting missing or broken items to the Lab Coordinator
  • Re-stocking linen cabinets and removing dirty linen from tables and carts
  • Notifying program staff when linen is low
  • Performing equipment and supply inventories
  • Special equipment set-up as requested by Faculty

The applicants should be physical therapy students.

The students will be given instructions on what the task requires and training if need be. The students will work mostly on their own, but under the supervision of the Faculty Lab Coordinator, Anne McCarthy Jacobson, PT, DPT, MS and PT Program Staff.
