Tom Grape is founder, chairman and CEO of Benchmark Senior Living. Established in 1997, the Waltham, Mass.-based company is a leading provider of senior living in the Northeast with 64 communities in seven states. It is the largest senior living provider of memory care services in New England. Tom has led Benchmark and its more than 6,000 associates to achieve $2.5 billion in assets under management and more than $550 million in annual revenue. 

Since April 2017, he has served on the first Governor’s Council to Address Aging in Massachusetts. Tom is a founder and past chairman of the national assisted living association, Argentum. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Massachusetts Assisted Living Association, of which he served as founding chairman in 1990. 

Tom is especially proud of the workplace culture Benchmark has created, which has been recognized through numerous workplace excellence awards. The company has been named one of the Top Places to Work for 14 straight years in The Boston Globe’s annual employee-based survey and has been certified as a Great Place to Work by the Great Place to Work Institute five consecutive years. Tom has been active in many community and organization boards, including: past vice chairman, board of trustees, Newton-Wellesley Hospital; past board chair and chair emeritus, board of trustees, Ithaca College, his alma mater; past board chair and trustee emeritus, The Meadowbrook School of Weston, Mass.; and chaired the Building Committee of the renowned Trinity Church in Copley Square for over 20 years.
