As COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc across the globe, the Institute community has remained strong with a clear sense of purpose. Your hard work, innovation, and dedication has led to a shift in how we educate the next generation of health care providers, but it has not shifted the very values that define the IHP. As an educational leader, we have always believed in our responsibility to ensure that the health care leaders of tomorrow are prepared to confront the many challenges that face our patients, families, and communities we serve. This IHP core value resonates now, more than ever.

There is no doubt that this shift in how we work and how we educate our students has been a challenge, but it is also an amazing personal learning opportunity. I know that I am learning hour by hour these days. I am in an environment that does not have the team I am usually surrounded by – the support system on which I rely. No one gave us a playbook or menu of options for this pandemic, but our important work continues. We are there for each other, even if it is in a virtual capacity.

The IHP trustees are grateful and proud of you. Paula regularly updates me on all you are doing to keep the IHP thriving; the stories are amazing. The Trustees are committed to you and to ensuring that our mission and priorities advance even during these times of great challenge and uncertainty. For all of us, trustees, faculty, and staff at the IHP, our passion to help during times of great need has never been more important. Together, we remain focused, and together we are stronger.
