Sheila Swales, MS, RN, PMHNP-BC, is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at the MGH Institute of Health Professions. She is board certified as an Adult Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. 

Ms. Swales teaches theory and clinical practicum courses in the Direct Entry Nursing Program. She is a member of the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Curriculum Task Force and the JEDI Faculty Development Community of Practice.

In addition to teaching, Ms. Swales maintains a clinical practice providing psychotherapy and psychopharmacology services to a diverse patient population. Clinical interests include geriatric mental health, grief and bereavement and substance use disorders. 

Ms. Swales holds a certification in Mind Body Medicine from the Benson-Henry Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital. She has also completed extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Internal Family Systems model of therapy.
